An article by Martin Béland on the use of LiDAR to measure giant trees of Whitaker’s Forest (California)

Last May, Martin Béland, professor in the Department of Geomatics, visited the Whitakers’s Forest in California in order to measure the structure of the giant redwoods . In an article on  the Center for Forestry at UC Berkekey blog , Mr. Béland explains the challenges in these first comprehensive giant trees LiDAR scans . The article also includes a video of a  86 meters- height redwood measured from 6 locations on the ground.
